James H. Diehl Water Filtration Plant

The James H. Diehl Water Filtration Plant was put into operation 1994. The plant treats up to 3.2 million gallons of water a day. Additional pumps can increase this capacity to four MGD. The water source is three million gallons of ground water pumped from quarries on the west side of Stephens City.

 

James T. Anderson Water Filtration Plant

James T. Anderson Water Filtration Plant

The James T. Anderson Treatment Plant opened in 2002. The plant has an initial capacity of four MGD expandable to six MGD. The water source there is a quarry in Clearbrook and nearby wells. Frederick Water also purchases finished water from the City of Winchester, which gets its water from the Shenandoah River. Frederick Water has three elevated and two ground storage tanks with a total capacity of three million gallons of system water storage. Current water usage in our customer area is four million gallons per day.
