High School Diploma and course work in geography, computer science, planning, engineering or related field, and experience with geographic information system maintenance including some experience with ESRI GIS software.
Under general supervision of the Asset Management Coordinator, performs professional intermediate work maintaining and improving geospatial databases in Frederick Water’s GIS environment, conducts GPS based survey of existing water and sewer infrastructure, uses GPS based survey techniques to locate and mark buried water and sewer lines.
Performs technical work in support of GIS functions for Frederick Water; maintaining and updating layers of GIS; develop and maintain related database data and performs a variety of spatial analyses; map production, displaying layers and attribute data from the database using cartographic techniques. Performs automated map drafting and related technical work in the preparation and maintenance of maps; Georeference digital drawings and digitizes recorded easements for use by Frederick Water employees. Converts digital and analog maps to GIS format; plots maps and reports for various departments; assists Frederick Water employees and citizens in the proper use of GIS products; GIS website and interpreting maps and other records; Responsible for the location and identification of all water and wastewater lines within County limits in accordance with applicable State law and local ordinance. Locates and accurately marks buried water and sewer lines; assures all locates are performed in the time allotted and Miss Utility notified of their completion; maintains records of locates; assist utility and building contractors to avoid damage to Frederick Water’s water and sewer lines; performs related tasks as required.
