    Frederick Water is a public water and sewer utility that has an immediate opening for an Entry Level Engineer . This position will plan and design multidiscipline projects consisting of water/wastewater treatment and collection/distribution systems. Work to improve recycling, waste disposal, public health, and water and air pollution control. Capable of performing the technical design and/or hydraulic modeling requirements on water/wastewater projects and collaborating with the Frederick Water team. Typical tasks will consist of but not limited to: Assist in creating and further developing a digital water and sewer model for Frederick Water’s conveyance systems. Assist in reviewing site plans and other design documents for compliance with Frederick Water specifications and standards and general principles of sound engineering. Work with water and wastewater treatment plant staff to resolve operational challenges as needed. Perform field tests on Frederick Water system components, including fire hydrant testing and verifying flow rates and pressures at sanitary pump stations.     Successful candidates will have a high school diploma, able to lift 50lbs, available for shift work and weekends, possess good communication and computer skills, and follow written and oral instructions. Must sit for class IV Wastewater operator test within two years. Preference will be given to candidates with CDL. Duties include but not limited to: Record readings from meters and instruments; regulate, maintain, and adjust motors, pumps, blowers, and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions. Collect samples for laboratory analysis, perform routine laboratory tests, prepare and maintain logs. Operators are essential personnel and are required to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays; a sample schedule will be provided to candidates. Candidates must have a valid driver's license. Must sit for class IV Water operator test within one year. Duties include but not limited to: Makes regular tours of plant and equipment; records readings from meters and instruments; checks functioning of equipment; regulates and adjusts motors, pumps, blowers, compressors, valves, and other apparatus to meet changing operating conditions; collects samples for laboratory analysis; adjusts chemical feed rates; mixes dry settling agents into solution; changes ton chlorine cylinders; makes minor or emergency repairs; maintains buildings and grounds; performs routine laboratory tests; prepares reports and maintains logs.
